Navigation
Manage menus exclusively under Content → Navigation. Page edit forms do not expose nav fields. Each area on that page is collapsible.
Top Bar (Above Header)
Optional thin bar above the main nav. Toggle it on, then add a phone number, address, extra link, and a Request an appointment (or similar) button. Extra bar links are optional. Colors, lower border, and text size are under Identity → Site Theme (default white with a light grey border).
Main header
Published site pages with In header appear here. Nest children with parent. Optional nav label overrides the page title. You can also add external website links that mix into the header by order.
Page sections (Page Builder site pages only — not Knowledge Base / FAQ) add a jump link to a section on that page (path plus #section-id). Pick a builder page, then a section labeled from its heading text (or type name). The public site emits matching id attributes on section wrappers.
Indexes and catalogs add a News, Locations, Team, Services, Procedures, Insurance, Practice Areas, Attorneys, or Knowledge Base / FAQ hub link to the header. A submenu toggle can include published detail pages or articles under that index.
Knowledge Base / FAQ, News, Locations, Team, Services, and Procedures
When those features are on, Navigation shows a matching area for sidebar / catalog order. Knowledge base controls nest/order for FAQ articles (managed under Content → Knowledge base). Catalog areas control public index order (and the header submenu when that toggle is on). Those sections do not have an “In header” checkbox — header placement is on Main header → Indexes.
Translation switcher & nav labels
When the Translation module is licensed and enabled (Identity → Translation), a language switcher can appear in the header. Visitors pick a locale via cookie; page content comes from locale sidecars ({slug}.{locale}.md / .sections.json) while URLs stay the same.
Nav / chrome labels (Skip to content, Search, Language, Legal, etc.) are courtesy strings — not page body. Override them per locale on the Translation screen (nav_labels in translation.json). Empty cells fall back to English defaults.
Footer
In footer is off by default and independent of the header. Footer chrome (copyright, legal, social, nav layout) and optional unique HTML live under Content → Footer. Site Theme still controls footer style (simple / split / stacked). The shipped Legal page cannot be edited; Hide it from Pages or Footer, or replace the default footer with custom content.
Knowledge base / FAQ sidebar
Articles created under Content → Knowledge base use the two-column KB chrome. Create a top-level hub (no parent), add it to the header from Indexes, then nest articles under it in the Knowledge base Navigation area. Optional layout_nav_root pins a specific hub id. This documentation set uses that pattern.
